Tasya van Ree
Picture from official facebook site
Tasya van Ree is an artist from Hawai that lives and works in Los Angeles, United States. She is mostly known for black and white photographies of famous people like Katherine Moennig (The L Word) which have been exhibited several times.
It would, however, be wrong to reduce her to her fantastic photography. When visiting her website, one can see that she is also talented in writing poetry and directing and editing short films.
In her short films she often uses her girlfriend Amber Heard (Zombieland, Pineapple Express, Drive Angry) as an actresses. The movies are in black and white just like the photography.
Her short movies are very poetic but I have to admit that I prefer her other work since her short movies all seem to be the same. I nevertheless encourage you to watch one of them. They can be seen on her official homepage and youtube. I will also post one under this article.
Another thing I recommend you to do is check out her facebook page. She is one of the artists who are not too famous to stay in contact with her fans. She does not only post twitteresque infos about what she does but also quotations from other people and then discusses their meaning with her fans. I have also experienced her doing some kind of live interview via facebook with her fans. The fands would post question and she would then try to answer as many of them as possible. I found that really interesting.
